12 weeks or One (1) semester full-time after completion of the Certificate III and IV in Hairdressing , or Two (2) semesters full-time after completion of Certificate III in Hairdressing Only or approximately two (2) semesters part time. External study options available.

Prerequisites

Grade 10 ,Mature Age ,Special Entry or Certificate III in Hairdressing or equivalent.Students must either hold a current WRH30106 Certificate III in Hairdressing and demonstrate current competence at Certificate III level or can undertake all units required within the Certificate III in Hairdressing while completing studies within the Certificate IV in Hairdressing and Diploma of Hairdressing Salon Management course and exit with additional awards.

Careers

The Diploma course provides a pathway to opportunities at the highest level within the hairdressing profession, including Salon or Business Manager, Salon or Business Proprietor, Hairdressing Lecturer/Educator, Training Manager in both products and training and On-site Salon Trainer

Overview

The WRH50106 Diploma of Hairdressing Salon Management is perhaps the pinnacle of qualifications obtainable in the hairdressing profession. It enables the qualified hairdresser to further expand on their practical skills by adding a management component to their already impressive credentials. Ultimately, this qualification is designed to suit those already employed in the hairdressing industry wishing to upgrade their skills and knowledge. For those employers looking at acquiring a salon manager the Diploma of Hairdressing Salon Management is an absolute must as it provides the employer with the peace of mind that their salon will be able to continue to grow and prosper under responsible and effective management.


Notes

Students must complete or hold a seniors first aid certificate at time of graduation.

Upon completion participants will have developed specialised skills and knowledge to progress in hair design and the beauty industry. It provides participants with the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding of management practices as they relate to hairdressing salons and enable participants to develop their businesses (or those in which they are employed) from a strategic perspective implementing initiatives to lead and take responsibility for a range of management services. These may include; establishing salon protocols, business planning, leading and managing others, developing and achieving business objectives and contributing to the commercial success and viability of the business.

Students need to have successfully completed a Certificate IV in Hairdressing (or equivalent). Participants completing similar units or who can demonstrate experience will be able to seek recognition of prior learning upon enrolment. A full RPL application kit is available from the Australian Institute of Applied Sciences administration.

Combined Programmes
Students may combine their studies of the Certificate IV in Hairdressing and Diploma of Hairdressing Salon Management to achieve both awards simultaneously, thereby reducing the timeframe to achievement. Students should contact Administration for assistance in timetabling this option.
