Overview

The WRH40206 Certificate IV in Trichology course is designed to further develop the skills and knowledge of qualified hairdressers who wish to practice in this area and also for persons who do not have a hairdressingbackground but wish to practice in a complimentary field. Likely functions in the hairdressing industry for those who achieve this qualification may involve employment as a trichologist within a hairdressing salon or complimentary health services environment,or managing and delivering trichology services via an independent practice. Functions at this level include the self-directed application of a broad range of knowledge and skills. The clinical trichologist at this level would apply principles of hair and scalp science to trichological consultations, consult with clients/patients, develop and apply scalp treatment therapies, apply the principles of nutrition, perform trichological assessments, perform hair loss diagnosis, design and apply nutritional therapies to benefit hair growth and condition, and design and apply hair loss therapies.

Notes

To achieve industry recognition as a qualified trichologist, students need to complete industry training in a commercially operated salon or similar environment over time to ensure complete competence in knowledge and application of skills. The Institute offers such training to ensure the highest recognition possible is able to be achieved by our graduates.

Combined Programmes
Students may combine their studies of the Certificate IV in Trichology with either Certificate III in Hairdressing and/or the Diploma of Hairdressing Salon Management to achieve multiple awards simultaneously, thereby reducing the timeframe to achievement. Students should contact Administration for assistance in timetabling this option.
